Discord Information

Throughout this school year, class lectures will be held through a combination of video tutorials and through a program called Discord. These are the directions to download and access Discord and join the Discord virtual class with any non-district computer or phone.

First, click on the link below based on the class you have Mr. Jaffe (Links will be posted on Mon Jan 25):

Discord connection instructions:

  • When you click on the above link, click "Continue to Discord"

  • You will be asked to log in with an email and password

  • You may use your own discord account if you have one, otherwise click Register:

  • Use your @stu.sandi account or your firstname.lastname@mrjaffesclass.com email account as the email

  • Use your district password with a ! at the end (or your own chosen password)

  • The first time you log in, click on the #introductions on the left of the screen to join the text channel so Mr. Jaffe can identify you and set your permissions.

  • After logging in for the first time you should click on the Class meeting voice channel to hear what we're doing for the day.

  • You can also download the Discord application on your computer or Chromebook. It is free and it will be easier to access everything.

Mobile Device Instructions:

  • When you click on the above link, click "Continue to Discord" or "Accept Invite"

  • You will be asked to Register or Login with an email and password

  • You may use your own discord account if you have one, otherwise:

  • Use your @stu.sandi account or your firstname.lastname@mrjaffesclass.com email account as the email

  • Use your district password with a ! at the end (or your own chosen password)

  • The first time you log in, click on the #introductions on the left of the screen to join the channel

  • You can instead download the "Discord app" from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. It is free and it will be easier to access everything.

  • checkin: Use this to check in to the class each day by sending !checkin

  • questions-for-mr-jaffe: Ask your on- or off-topic questions for Mr. Jaffe here

  • class-chat: General class text channel

  • Class meeting: General class meeting voice channel

  • Study hall: Quiet study -- no talking allowed

  • Shhh... I'm sleeping: Where you go when you have no activity

  • Mr. Jaffe's Conference: Voice and text channels for showing Mr. Jaffe your work

  • Meeting Rooms 1-15: Voice and text channels for collaborative student work
